What Does an EGT Sensor Do?

An EGT sensor measures the temperature of exhaust gases and sends this data to the engine control unit (ECU), which can then adjust:

• Fuel injection to regulate catalytic converter efficiency.
• Turbocharger boost pressure to prevent overheating.
• Diesel particulate filter (DPF) regeneration to reduce harmful emissions.
